Established in 2003, Sumo Sheffield has grown to be one of the largest development studios in the UK. Our teams are working on truly ground-breaking titles, from our own incredible IP to amazing experiences for some of the world's biggest publishers. CUTTING EDGE PROJECTS
Sumo Sheffield has a track record of working on some of the world's biggest and best games. The scale and exclusivity of these projects continues to grow year-on-year.
Developing multiple AAA franchises such as Little Big Planet and Crackdown, as well as contributing to genre-defining titles like the Forza Motorsport and Horizon series, has ensured our studio’s vast development experience spans multiple genres and platforms. This allows us to offer our teams an exciting range of games to work on.
Collaborating with the best publishers in the world ensures we develop with the latest tools and technologies on offer. Our team are experts with established gaming engines, including Unreal 5 which will be a foundation for some of our upcoming titles, as well as developing and working with our own cutting edge proprietary engine technology.

STUDIO FACILITIES
Sumo Sheffield is the core location for Sumo HQ and offers industry-leading facilities. With a multi-building campus we have everything needed for all our teams to thrive as one and create the world's best games.
Our state-of-the-art audio suite boasts an Atmos HE mix room, 3 edit suites and a Foley space.
The Sumo Sheffield studio also has on offer an onsite gym stacked with equipment for fitness enthusiasts and an onsite canteen with subsidised meals and barista-served coffees.
THE SUMO SHEFFIELD EXPERIENCE
Our people are our most valuable asset, what they bring as individuals, and their contributions to their teams is what places Sumo where it is today – at the forefront of the industry. People require balance to be effective in both their home and working lives and at Sumo, we place a strong emphasis on that work-life balance.
Time away helps to maintain that balance and our flexible working and holiday packages ensure our people get all the time they need, so that making games continues to be a creative, challenging, immersive, but most of all, fun experience. When it is, it shines through in the final product.
We hold out-of-office events such as our legendary annual Sumo ‘Big Day Out’, epic Christmas parties and many more social events throughout the year!
We can't get enough of making games, so we hold regular studio Game Jams, a highlight where we can flex our creative muscles on any weird and wonderful concepts. Previous winners have gone on to be fully developed, so far including Snake Pass and Spyder, released in 2020 on Apple Arcade.

We are proud of our South Yorkshire home in Sheffield. Located just off J34 of the M1 there is easy road and rail access from Leeds, Manchester and the Midlands.
As the fifth largest city in the UK, Sheffield enjoys a wealth of facilities to suit any interest that you may have, including:
